Drainage Works completed at O.R. Tambo Rec
Following years of campaigning by Alexandra Park Liberal Democrats, Haringey Council have completed drainage works to help resolve flooding issues at O.R. Tambo Rec (formerly Albert Rec), including in the children’s playground.
Works took place over November, and should mean that the council can begin a new consultation on the refurbishment of the playground. After questioning from Cllr Alessandra Rossetti (LD-Alexandra Park), the council has confirmed that consultation is planned to begin in January 2023.
Cllr Rossetti raised the refurbishment of the playground and flooding in the park as a priority after she was elected in 2018 along with her then Liberal Democrat colleagues, and has continued pushing on the issue since.
Works took place:
- On the main field, laying two trenches on the northern and eastern boundary of the sports pitches (blue line on the photo)
- On the play area (green and yellow lines on the photo)
Cllr Alessandra Rossett, Liberal Democrat ward councillor for Alexandra Park ward, said:
“These drainage works are an excellent first step to making O.R. Tambo Rec a park which residents can be proud of, and allow the playground to be used year round - which hasn't been possible in recent years. This action has been taken due to a long-term campaign from local Lib Dem councillors, and I will continue to push until the playground gets its long-overdue refurbishment.
