Haringey is most complained about council

HLD

Responding to the news that Haringey was the country’s most complained about council from 2016-22, Councillor Luke Cawley-Harrison (LD-Crouch End), Leader of the Opposition on Haringey Council, said:
“We said last year, when Haringey was revealed as the most complained about council in London, that wholesale change of how the council treats residents was needed. Eighteen months on, nothing is changing, and the council is not only the worst in London, but the worst in the entire UK. The  council leader needs to get a grip on the local authority and its services, because Haringey’s residents deserve better than this repeated failure.”

Haringey had 45.3 complaints per 10,000 residents made to the Local Government Ombudsman, with 70% of these being upheld. This is the second year running that Haringey has been in the news as the most complained about council.

Calling for an appeal to the ombudsman is a lengthy and difficult process, so this is likely to be the tip of the iceberg for wronged residents.
