Highways works at junction of Park Road, Priory Road, Alexandra Palace Way & Muswell Hill

27 Mar 2023

Major highways works are scheduled to commence on Monday 27th March at the junction of Park Road, Priory Road, Alexandra Palace Way & Muswell Hill (the borough's busiest junction).

These works will be split across five phases, and are expected to last 14-15 weeks. During this time there will be a number of closures and diversions which we provide details of below.

The works are to install rain gardens and permeable paving as part of a new Muswell Hill Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS), which aims to tackle the historic, recurring flooding around this junction/Park Road. This SuDS scheme follows earlier work that has taken place over the last few months by Thames Water to repair a number of collapsed pipes at this junction, and by Haringey Council in front of AudioGold/Nisa on Park Road to increase the gulley capacity.

Please note: this plan has been revised within the last few days following consultations between Haringey's Traffic Management Team and the Contractors, and therefore may appear different to other plans shared within the community already. These revisions have reduced the scheduled work plan time down from 18 to 15 weeks (weather permitting), and resulted in a slight reduction in road closures.

We have been told by the council's highways team that all the traffic management works will be signed with full diversions in place, and the contractor Marlborough Highways will employ “gatespersons” to assist residents/businesses etc with allowing necessary access for deliveries during the working day.

The council have also provided an email address to residents and businesses for any queries or questions. You can write to them at frontline.consultation@haringey.gov.uk whilst typing ‘SuDS’ as the email subject.
