Hornsey Town Hall-public access must be safeguarded and building protected
Labour press ahead with plans to lease Hornsey Town Hall for 125 years to a developer, whilst the Lib Dems insist that the building must be restored and the public give access to the building.
Commenting on the decision made at Haringey Cabinet on Tuesday 16th June to invite tenders for Hornsey Town Hall.
Sarah Elliott, Lib Dem councillor for Crouch End, said:
"At the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday I asked the Labour Cabinet if they would be prepared to start the process over again if the right plans for the Town Hall are not put forward by bidders; we need to ensure that any chosen tender fulfils the plans, especially for community access.
"Hornsey Town Hall is at the heart of Crouch End's thriving and vibrant community and it is essential that it remains open to the public once it is restored to its former glory.
"The Liberal Democrats will continue to work with the local community to ensure the right solution is found for the future of our Town Hall."
