Lib Dem candidate calls for action on Tottenham Hale fly-tipping epidemic
Allen Windsor, the Haringey Liberal Democrat candidate for the Tottenham Hale by-election, has called for the council to take action on fly tipping in the area, after figures discovered by the Liberal Democrats revealed that Tottenham Hale had the highest number of complaints in Haringey regarding fly-tipping and littering in both 2021 (to council enforcement) and 2022 (to Veolia).
Questions submitted to the council by the Lib Dem group revealed that 24,445 reports of dumped rubbish or fly tips were submitted to either the council or Veolia in 2021, and this rose to a staggering 28,284 incidents in 2022. That is equivalent to over 75 reports each day.
Commenting on the figures, Allen Windsor, Liberal Democrat candidate for Tottenham Hale, said:
“Fly-tipping is a massive problem in Tottenham Hale, and tougher enforcement by both the council and the police is urgently needed. In my campaign I have spoken with many residents who cite fly-tipping as their number one issue, and if I am elected to the council it will be my top priority. Tottenham residents deserve to live in a safe, clean borough, and the council need to get to grips with this fly-tipping epidemic.
