Lib Dems call on new Mayor to bring Crossrail 2 to Alexandra Palace and Turnpike Lane Stations
Haringey Lib Dems have called on the new Mayor of London to bring Crossrail 2 to Alexandra Palace and Turnpike Lane Stations.
The Lib Dem surveyed local people and found 78.5% of local residents who responded, backed the Alexandra Palace/Turnpike Lane route and only 21.5% backed the Wood Green Station route.
In the official Crossrail 2 survey:
• 85% of comments received about a Crossrail 2 Station at Turnpike Lane were supportive
• 80% of comments received about a Crossrail 2 Station at Alexandra Palace were supportive
• In comparison only 28% of comments received about a Crossrail 2 Station at Wood Green were supportive, with 68% of comments expressing concerns
Cllr Gail Engert, Haringey Lib Dem Leader of the Opposition, comments:
“The Liberal Democrats want to see Crossrail 2 come to the borough. However, we disagree with the Labour Leader of Haringey Council on the preferred route. We believe that Crossrail 2 stations at Alexandra Palace and Turnpike Lane would be the best option for the borough and local residents clearly agree as can be seen by the results of our survey and the results of the official consultation.
“The Lib Dems will continue to press Transport for London, Crossrail and the Mayor of London to bring Crossrail to Alexandra Palace and Turnpike Lane stations.”
