Lib Dems choose local candidate for St Ann's by-election

The Haringey Liberal Democrats have chosen Tottenham resident Josh Dixon as their candidate for the St Ann’s ward by-election.

Mr Dixon lives in Tottenham and has committed to campaign on issues such as more affordable housing, dumped rubbish and crime.

The by-election has been triggered by the resignation of Peter Morton who had represented the ward for Labour and had been the Cabinet Member for Health. The by-election will take place on Thursday 6th October.

Profile of Josh Dixon:
Josh is 25 years old and lives in Tottenham on Boundary Road. He campaigned extensively during the EU referendum and was upset to see Britain vote to leave despite a 75% remain vote in Haringey. Josh is proud that the Lib Dems are the only party united on this and will fight to ensure Britain is not dragged out of Europe by the right wing of the Tory party.

Cllr Gail Engert, Lib Dem Leader of the Opposition, comments:

“I am delighted to have Josh Dixon as our candidate for the by-election in St Ann’s. Josh would be an excellent councillor.

“The Greens and Conservatives have no councillors in Haringey. We need a strong opposition to the Labour-run council, I urge residents to vote for Josh Dixon and the Liberal Democrats on the 6th October.”

Josh Dixon, Lib Dem candidate for St Ann’s, comments:

“I am very proud to be the Lib Dem candidate for St Ann’s. My priorities are to push for more affordable housing locally and to clean up our community, making it a safe and pleasant place to live in.

“I also think it is very important to hold Labour to account for the way they run the council. Only by electing a Lib Dem councillor can we ensure the arrogant Labour are held to account. The Lib Dems are the only opposition to Labour in Haringey.”
