Haringey Liberal Democrat councillors met with a representative from the Post Office on Friday (29th January). During the meeting, the councillors made it clear that they, and local residents, want to keep post offices in Crouch End and Muswell Hill.
The post offices are due to be privatised and if no franchisee is found to take them on, there is a danger the post offices could close.
Haringey Lib Dems are continuing to campaign on this issue and have launched a petition that has been signed by over 800 local residents. They are calling on the Post Office to keep post offices in Muswell Hill and Crouch End with the same or better services and opening hours.
Cllr Gail Engert, Haringey Lib Dem Leader of the Opposition, comments:
“When we met with Post Office last week, we made it clear to them, that we must keep post offices in both areas. We also expect them to provide the same services as now, with the same or better opening hours.
“The Liberal Democrats will be continuing to push the Post Office to ensure we do not lose post offices in Muswell Hill and Crouch End, which provide very important services to local people. I urge residents to back our campaign to keep the post office, by signing our petition.”
