Standing with Jewish residents in Haringey
The “serious failings” identified by today's report from the Equality and Human Rights Commission have had real and frightening consequences for many Jewish residents of our borough. They have our continuing support as does any minority under attack.
Following further instances of Haringey Labour councillors being suspended for anti-Semitism over the summer we met with representatives of the Jewish communities to discuss what we can do to support them.
As a result, we have proposed to Labour a joint education session on anti-Semitism which they have accepted, and we hope Haringey Labour will follow Keir Starmer's lead today in taking the necessary action against those councillors.
We will of course also continue to call out abuse, hatred and prejudice whenever we see them.
