Tim Farron brings Lib Dem fightback to Hornsey & Wood Green
Lib Dem party Leader, Tim Farron, visited the borough on Monday to support the Lib Dem candidate for Hornsey & Wood Green, Dawn Barnes.
Mr Farron was greeted by a large crowd of Lib Dem campaigners at Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End. He said local people need to vote Lib Dem to change Britain’s future and stop a hard Brexit. He urged local people to support the Lib Dem candidate Dawn Barnes, who unlike the Labour candidate, lives in the constituency.
The Hornsey & Wood Green constituency was previously represented by a Lib Dem MP, Lynne Featherstone, from 2005 to 2015. The Liberal Democrats are aiming to win the seat back at the general election on 8th June.
Lib Dem Leader, Tim Farron said:
“The Liberal Democrats are ready to paint swathes of London and the country yellow again. Every Liberal Democrat MP elected is a blow to Theresa May’s hard Brexit agenda.
“Millions of people across the country are deeply worried about the direction our country is heading in. This is their chance to change Britain’s future and stop a disastrous hard Brexit.”
Dawn Barnes, Lib Dem candidate for Hornsey & Wood Green said:
“The Lib Dems are determined to fight the Conservative’s plans for a hard Brexit and are the only major party offering the public a vote on the final deal. If I am elected to parliament I will vote to stop the Labour and Tory backed hard Brexit. I will campaign for more affordable housing and for the Labour-run council to stop their plans to knock down swathes of Wood Green for development.”
